Typo Fix is Now On at WeChat Official Account Editor

WeChat finally provides typo fix function in its official account in the second week of February.

One of the day-to-day challenges faced by WeChat content writer is typo fixing. In particular, the content team servicing non-Chinese speaking brand clients who require Chinese language article as well as English copy for them to digest and understand.

In the past, once the article was published, it could not be changed. The cover page of that article would have sit in the individual user’s dialog window, even it was later deleted at Official Account side. Once the cover page gets clicked on，a grey error mark would appear. “This content is deleted by the publisher”. As a marketer, you would never want to have your audience, boss or client to see the typos or errors caused by low level of mistake, not even to mention frustration on your WeChat user experience.

The official account publisher had three options to rectify the in-correction.

Delete the article quickly and republish .

Make a new post announcing the correction.

Pin your own comment at the bottom of the article, conveying the correction message

None of those are ideal and neither can be tolerated by any stakeholders.

It is a really good piece of news for those content managers to have a second chance to fix the typo or make changes.

WeChat currently offers modification up to 5 words in on article and the article can only be modified once.

WeChat Apply team has found that the “5 words” contains Chinese, English, punctuation and spaces, and an article can only be modified once.

However, regardless with it or without it, shouldn’t the content writer and QA person be diligent enough to ensure 100% of accuracy in the first place?
